Go West Diving

Overview

Go West Diving, a member of the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame, is one of Curacao’s most reputable, full-service PADI dive operations. From shore diving to boat diving, dive courses to snorkeling tours, Go West offers it all. Curacao diving is similar to next-door neighbor Bonaire in terms of the number of shore dive sites and marine life, but it also offers some features Bonaire does not. For one, most of our shore diving is conducted from sandy beaches in small, secluded inlets. The easy-footing sandy entries mean the reef is a bit further out than on Bonaire, but the surface swims. Exists – absent any slippery rocks – are equally easy at the end of the dive. Another great plus is that many (but not all) of the beach parking lots have security guards on duty. There’s no better way to start your visit to Curacao than with a welcome dive on our fantastic house reef, Alice in Wonderland. Rated one of the top dive sites in Curacao, the reef is a short 100 feet straight out from the Go West Diving pier. Another fabulous shore dive is Neptune’s Reef, directly in front of All West Diving Apartments. This dive site offers a nice steep wall and a big opportunity to see turtles. Do not forget to pay a visit to our statue of King Neptune placed just in front of the pier at 30’ at the beginning of 1997. There are many more sites to explore, and with your rental truck included in your Stay, Drive & Dive Packages, you’ll have plenty of time to explore them with your group for some afternoon dives! Curaçao unarguably offers great shore diving, but if you want to visit some of the very best dive sites the island, you’ll want to get there by boat. Go West Diving offers daily boat trips to sites which are hard to get to or impossible to reach from shore. The boats depart for a 2-tank dive at 8:30 am, and return +/- 12:30 pm. Two of our boats comfortably accommodate 18 divers, and a third can hold up to 20 divers. All have amenities as camera rinse tanks, comfortable seating, wide platforms, as well as VHF radio and well-maintained safety equipment. A boat captain knowledgeable about boat safety and procedures always remains on board while the divers are in the water. One of the most well-known sites we visit is Mushroom Forest. This expansive area of coral flats is named for the striking mushroom-shaped coral formations. This is one of the top dive sites of Curacao and one we often visit twice each week. Most life is found around the 40ft/12m to 50ft/14m mark where gigantic mountainous star coral formations are still evident and attract giant moray eels, porcupine fish, barracuda, and lobster. The most northern dive site we visit, Watamula, is only 5 minutes away by boat. It offers spectacular healthy formations of hard corals, a soft coral-garden and a large variety of marine life.
